The Fuji X-H1 Worth it?

The Fuji X-H1 has launched and just about everyone is talking about it. My question is, is it worth it? Well let’s look at the specs:

  • 24Megapixel Sensor (Same as X-T2)
  • 200 Megabits Data rate in video (new)
  • 4k DCI (4096 instead of 3840)
  • Improved weather sealing
  • New Film Look (ETERNA)
  • 5 Axis IBIS (New to Fuji)

In short here is what I’ll say: The body on the XH1 looks more robust than that of any of the other X series cameras. Because the data rate is higher during video recording which will provide more color information to work with in post. If your shooting video and are in the market for a new camera then YES get the camera. If you have the X-T2, shoot video, need a back-up camera and can afford the $1900 price tag then Yes get it.

Take a look at this review from Palle Schultz —

However, if you have an X-T2 and say a Gh5 or Xe3 and just want the next best thing then wait till either for the X-H2 or a camera that will offer a lot more than a few of the updates that FUJI is offering with the X-H1. For anyone to get rid of a camera they purchased less than a year ago the camera should have the following:

  • 30 Megapixels and above
  • 5-6 hr battery life (this is specific to Fuji)
  • 10Bit color straight to card (especially for Fuji)
  • 6k – 8k Resolution

I mention these things above because a lot of camera manufacturers aren’t going beyond where we have been for the past 3 years there have been some advancements (IBIS / higher data rates) but since 4k no new transformations and very few offer 10bit color under $2000.

So if you don’t have a video camera and want something solid to capture video with the FUJI X-H1 is an excellent choice.
